We're all active participants of this non-stop race today. It's called "reach the money" and if you get hold of the bucks; you're again in the process of running much further for more and more. There's a never ending need to work, earn and expectations! Yes, with earning big bucks comes an attachment called "We expect you to run a marathon as soon as you're born". This is the fashion in which co.s act. There will never be any organisation which will be instantly satisfied with the work an employee delivers.
That's not it; if you come with an expensive price tag; you're doomed. Trust me, it's difficult to survive. Listing down a few instances that you'll will relate to quite well.
1. If you're hired with a plump investment, you better know everything.
This is the ideology most of the companies have in their minds while recruiting someone for a higher position. Simply means the "Runner up" (pseudo name for affected employees) needs to know "everything" about everything. This is true, we come across such instances several times. The following statement by employer would be,"We're investing a lot on you, please do justice to it". I understand what they mean, but they should "empathize" with the staff too. Understand that the employee left his previous job to be a part of your organisation, to add value to the efforts. He/she will take sometime to adjust, act and work in a way in-line with you.
2. You've 6 plus years of work-experience and we do not expect such mistakes from you.
Are we "God" and are not entitled to make errors? I do not understand this concept of pointing out to the employee with this topic of argument. We are all here to make mistakes and learn from them, of course we should be mindful of not repeating the same mistake twice, rather make new ones each time. If we don't fall, we'd never learn how to get-up again- this is an old age adage.
3. We're not on the same page with the wave-length.
Says who you need to think alike and portray things in a way that it's always in-line with your boss? Why can't one have a different view-point, difference in opinion and put forth his way of communicating things? I think this is completely alright a situation to occur. There's nothing wrong in not being on the same page, but one can always learn and walk the extra mile to understand this.
Only if we could all stop living for money, and acted as there's something more beyond it. Sigh.
